They need cold stratification.
I have planted them directly in the ground in Fall and have planted them in Spring after placing them in fridge overnight winter.
When planting plant about 1/4 inch deep in well draining soil.
The best temperature is 70 degrees and up.
They need light to germinate.
They you can place a plastic wrap if planting in trays.
If you plant in a pot or tray and transplant wait until you have a few true leaves on the Chester.
I only plant in direct method for line planting in berry beds.
The Chester Thornless BlackBerry originated in 1968 in the US.
It is disease resistant .
Produces high yields
Resistant to cane blight, high levels of nutraceuticals, and winter hardy.
Hardy to below -10 F
They do best in Full Sun.
Well draining soil.
Mid - August through to mid-September production.
Produces black sweet berries.
I use them in tarts, jams and truffles.
A trellis is recommended.
It grows to around 6ft in height.

How are Seeds Shipped ?
All very small seeds are processed using a normal stamp process for letters. Larger small seed orders will be shipped with a non-Machinable stamp. MULTI seed orders are shipped in a larger First-Class envelope with a printed USPS Etsy tracking label.
